I was at Gwanghwamun today and attended the Ex-president's memorial, and laid flowers by his picture. I must say it was an interesting experience; since being a foreigner and only been a month since I came to Korea, I do not understand anything about the political life in Korea. But it was moving because I realize how many young people in Korea seem to love and adore him, as my friend (a Korean) cry while she laid the flower down by his picture.
I can tell you were lucky to observe one of the critical incidents in Korean history. From this experience, you may have a glimpse of Koreans, you may have a hard time to tell what it is exactly though. Good start. Keep up with your open mind. ;)
