Navah Oriental
Belly dance technique depends on fine muscle control of the torso, arms and hips, and on interpretation of the intricate music. The dance is an expression of feeling: joy, love, sorrow, and all the complex emotions of life. We will explore American, Egyptian and Turkish Oriental styles in this class. This is the traditional glitz and glamour style most people imagine when speaking of bellydance. Each week we will learn a series of movements in this style to build up your dance vocabulary. This is a class meant for students new to dance.
Navah Training
This class will focus on developing proper technique, precision and fluidity, endurance and strength through a series of drills and conditioning exercises that will keep you in constant motion. We will also review combinations from the choreography class. The training classes are complimentary to the Oriental and Tribal classes.
Navah Advanced
This is an advanced class. A veil, fan and (finger cymbals) zills are required.
Attendance is by invitation only.
Navah Tribal
Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is a form of modern belly dance generally referring to a combination of American Tribal Style Belly Dance and Cabaret or Egyptian style belly dance. It fuses elements of Popping, Hip Hop, and Modern dance. It often draws from many traditional forms such as Flamenco and Bhangra as well as various folkloric dance styles. We will also explore American Tribal Style or group improvisation in this class. Each week in this class we will learn a series of movements in the Tribal style to build your dance vocabulary up. At the end of the month, you will know a complete set of belly dance moves for an entire song.
Navah Theme
Each month we will explore a different avenue of bellydance-new rhythms, props and/or concepts.

Recommendations for your first class:
The Tribal Fusion and Oriental classes are meant to teach you choreographies. You will learn a series of movements at a moderate pace. The Training classes review the combinations from within the choreographies repeatedly but at a faster pace. The two are meant to be complimentary.
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes early as we only have access to the studio by the hour. Wear something you can move freely such as yoga pants and a tank top. Eshe can correct your form better if she can see it. If you feel comfortable wearing something a bit form fitting please do so. We dance barefoot. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged. Be kind to yourself.
